Kathmandu, Dec 26: In order to strengthen the health care and services of the country, the Ministry of Health and Population is hosting the Nepal Health Conclave in the capital on December 26-27. According to the ministry, the two-day conclave has been organized to strengthen the health system of Nepal by mobilizing the knowledge, skills and resources of Nepali Diaspora health professionals and local health/public health workers.
“The Nepal Health Conclave, 2024 aims to bridge the gap between global expertise and national needs by fostering collaboration between Nepali Diaspora health professionals and national stakeholders”, the ministry said. As many as 1,000 participants registered from 90 countries are attending the conclave to be held in Kathmandu with the slogan ‘Connecting Diaspora for Healthcare Strengthening’.
Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr Prakash Budhathoki informed that 300 of the registered participants would participate in a face-to-face mode while 700 would join virtually. The Ministry expressed its belief that the conference would promote knowledge and technology exchange between the Nepalese Medical Diaspora and local healthcare providers.
Spokesperson Dr Budhathoki further said that the conference is to promote partnership for research, innovation and training and formulate healthcare policy and strategy for long-term engagement.
Global practice of Diaspora engagement, ‘e-health’ and advanced health, policy dialogue and long-term engagement and research, education and innovation would be the main themes of this conference.
Likewise, the conference is expected to help prepare the Nepal Medical Diaspora Engagement Framework. “The outcome of the conference is expected to further facilitate the formulation of strategies for long-term collaboration between local and international doctors, health workers and public health workers and draw actionable policy recommendations to strengthen the healthcare system”, Dr Bidhathoki told RSS.
