Pokhara – The Rotary Club of Pokhara Lakeside has expressed its willingness to support the development and promotion of Rainaskot Municipality in Lamjung District.

Founded in 2017, the Rotary Club of Pokhara Lakeside has been actively working in the seven key focus areas outlined by Rotary International. These areas include peace and conflict studies, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, supporting education, community economic development, and environmental protection.

A team from the club recently visited Rainaskot to discuss potential avenues for support. During the discussion, Mayor Khadka Bahadur Gurung of Rainaskot requested assistance in promoting Rainas Homestay and completing the ongoing construction of the Mini Great Wall.

The delegation from the club included President Upendra Adhikari, Program Coordinator Rajan Kumal, Past President Hom Ale, Vice President Top Bahadur Thapa, Secretary Subas Malla, Treasurer Amuk Koirala, along with members Lok Bahadur Gurung and Shivalal Sunar, among others.

Upendra Adhikari, a well-known name in Nepal’s tourism industry, has been actively contributing to the sector for over 15 years. With extensive experience in trekking and peak climbing, he has established himself as a successful tourism entrepreneur. His dedication to showcasing Nepal’s natural beauty and cultural heritage has earned him immense respect among locals and international visitors alike.

Currently, Upendra is also playing a significant role in promoting tourism through Rotary. His efforts focus on sustainable tourism development, creating opportunities for local communities, and enhancing Nepal’s global presence as a premier destination for adventure and cultural tourism.

With a deep commitment to his work, Upendra continues to inspire others to explore the incredible landscapes of Nepal while fostering a spirit of adventure and preservation.

Rainaskot holds significant natural and historical value. From Rainaskot, one can view 18 Himalayan peaks, including Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Bouddha, and Ganesh Himal, all at once. Historically, during the Baise-Chaubise era, King Yashobrahma Shah of Lamjung’s younger son, Drabya Shah, ruled and resided at Rainaskot.

Rainaskot was declared a “Destination Village” by Visit Nepal in 2018. Last year, it was listed among the 110 must-visit destinations announced by the Gandaki Province Government.
