Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) carries the responsibility to inform the people by carrying out factual, credible, official and reliable news and information in a speedy manner in the changing context. In a message today on the occasion of 62nd anniversary of the RSS, the PM has stated that the RSS’ role and responsibility has further increased with the change in time saying that the media sector was making tremendous jumps.
The PM said that the RSS like state-owned media institutions’ responsibility has further increased. PM Prachanda has mentioned that the media has a great role in the country’s political, economic and social transformation and praised the role that the RSS has performed in favour of such transformations. Likewise, the PM has stressed that the RSS’ attention should be oriented towards media advocacy for the cause of strong federal democratic republic, sustainable development and economic prosperity.
PM Prachanda has also expressed concerns to the deepening animosity in the society due to spread of fake news and misinformation in the recent times and added that the RSS would make positive contributions to the social systems through the dissemination of factual news. The PM has also suggested that the RSS should move ahead by revisiting its services and diversifying them. Pledging to make the RSS a powerful, effective and efficient organization, the PM has underscored the need for professional services on the part of the RSS by adopting relevant technology and imparting training for capacity building.
PM Prachanda also said that his government was committed to performing results in the country by expediting the development projects and offering prompt public services, ensuring political stability and economic rejuvenation by prioritizing social justice, good-governance and prosperity. “This responsibility is not only of the Prime Minister but also a shared responsibility of entire state apparatus, all layers of federal system, private sector, media and Nepali citizens,” according to the PM. PM Prachanda has also wished the RSS for achieving a success to get established as a leading media house.
