Phungling (Taplejung), Feb 23: A prohibitory order has been enforced in Phungling Bazaar and Pathibhara area of Taplejung district. The District Administration Office, Taplejung has issued a prohibitory order to be effective from this morning following the controversy over the construction of a cable car in Pathibhara.
Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma issued a notification on Saturday night stating that prohibitory orders have been issued in the district headquarters of Phungling Bazaar and Pathibhara areas.

According to the information, the prohibitory order had to be issued as the situation was unfavorable after the clash between the no-cablecar side and the police at the market in Phungling on Saturday evening.
Due to sensitive and adverse circumstances, the prohibitory order has been issued in accordance with Section 6 (3) (a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028 BS.

Prohibitory orders have been imposed from 5 am until further notice in Fungling Bazar area, Dokhu Salleri towards the east, Ghochonu and Thalangdhar towards the west, Ukali Pani towards the north and Sherpa Toll, Veterinary Kanchenjunga Toll towards the south.

Restrictions have been imposed within 100 metres of the tourist police building on the east side, Balu Danda area on the west side, Cable Car Base Station on the north side and the new bus park under construction on the south side under the Kaphlepati area of Pathibhara area.

Gatherings of more than five people, assemblies, processions, demonstrations and other activities will not be allowed in the restricted zones.

People from both sides were injured in a clash between the no-cablecar side and the police at the headquarters Phungling on Saturday evening over the issue of the under-construction cable car. A clash between the No-Cablecar group and the police occurred last Thursday also at the cablecar construction site in the Pathibhara area.

Police, protesters and 13 others were injured in the clash.
