Kathmandu – The 29th Annual NELTA International Conference in Kathmandu attracted over 1,000 educators, administrators, and officials from more than 20 countries. Organized by the Regional English Language Office (RELO) at the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu in partnership with the Nepal English Language Teachers Association (NELTA), the conference underscored the importance of mastering the English language as a powerful driver of global progress, security, and economic development.
Public Affairs Chief Mike Harker delivered the keynote address, emphasizing that proficiency in English offers nations and individuals a competitive advantage, opening doors to global trade, economic prosperity, and enhanced international partnerships.
He also highlighted how U.S.-supported English language programs in Nepal enable students and educators to build stronger ties with U.S. institutions, advancing both educational and diplomatic relations between the two nations.
