Kathmandu, March 28: A person was killed and 35 others injured in a violent demonstration organized by the supporters of the ex-king in the federal capital on Friday. The Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed this in a press meet on Friday evening.
According to Ministry’s Joint Secretary Chhabi Rijal, the deceased was Sabin Maharjan from Kirtipur. Seriously injured in the clash, he breathed his last while receiving treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH).
Among the injured, 23 are from the demonstrators’ side, nine are the Armed Police Force (APF) personnel and nine are the Nepal Police persons.
The Joint Secretary stressed the need of bringing Durga Prasai, the leader of the demonstration, to justice. He said the responsibilities for all the losses should be owned by the organisers of the demonstration.
