Birgunj (Parsa), April 1: Pristine Mega Logistics Park Pvt Ltd, an Indian company, has been awarded the responsibility of managing and operating the Birgunj Inland Clearance Depot.
Executive Director of Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee, Asish Gajurel, said that Pristine Mega Logistics Park Pvt Ltd has been selected for operation and management of the dry port for the next five years at a cost of Rs 4.71 billion.
According to the Committee, Container Corporation of India Limited and Pristine Mega Logistic Park Pvt Ltd were selected through technical evaluation of the tender called for the management and operation of the dry port. Container Corporation of India Pvt Ltd had bid for Rs 4.51 billion.
The Committee said after signing the contract agreement with the selected company, the company will be given the responsibility of managing and operating the dry port for five years from the coming mid-July.
Earlier, the same company had bagged the contract for the management and operation of the dry port for five years at a cost of Rs 3.33 billion.
The dry port at Sirsiya in Birgunj expands on an area of 57 bighas. Goods are brought to this port only by cargo train. The ICD was built in 2000 at a cost of Rs 820 million with the World Bank loan assistance. The railway link from Raxaul to the dry port has been constructed at a cost of Rs 200 million provided by the Government of India.
Meanwhile, the Birgunj Dry Port Customs Office has collected Rs 32.32 billion in revenue during the eight months of the current fiscal year. In the last fiscal year, it had collected Rs 47.31 billion in revenue.
