Kathmandu :  Altogether 395 climbers have ascended the highest mountain in the world-Sagarmatha (Mt Everest) so far this spring.

According to the Department of Tourism, among those scaling the 8,848.86 metres high mountain this climbing season, 135 were climbers and 235 were their support team’s Sherpas.
Last Sunday alone, 135 climbers had set their feet on the summit of Sagarmatha.

This spring, 468 climbers of 47 groups had obtained permit to climb Sagarmatha. Among them 86 were women and 382 were men, the Department said.

Climbers from 57 countries had received the permit to climb the mountain known as the ‘roof of the world’.

Besides Sagarmatha, 700 climbers of 80 different groups had got permit to scale 26 other mountains in this climbing seasons.
