Khandbari, July 19: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, said Kimathangka checkpoint bordering China bears much national importance.
Minister Khadka asserted that the government has accorded high priority to this checkpoint in Sankhuwasabha district given the viability of operating round-the-year. The Minister made this statement while inaugurating the office of Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project at Chainpur in the district recently.
“With its access to road connectivity, this checkpoint will come into full operation round-the-year,” he assured, noting the crucial role of this crossing in further strengthening trilateral relations.
Stating that there were some mega hydro projects of Indian investment currently operative in Sankhuwasabha district, he emphasized maintaining a balanced and cordial relation with both of our immediate neighbours-India and China.
As for the newly inaugurated Project Office in the district, the Minister was confident that this Project would sustainably utilize the sources of water, thereby boosting agricultural productivity in the district. He informed that the Project would address technical, managerial and social aspects of similar projects in altogether four districts, including Sankhuwasabha.
“Despite having sufficient natural resources, Sankhuwasabha is lagging behind,” he worried, adding that budget was allocated as per the aspiration of public for this new fiscal year 2025/26.
He claimed that his Ministry achieved 80 per cent of its target in energy sector in the last fiscal year and mentioned that the Ministry’s main focus is now on ensuring development and propriety.
