Nawalpur (Nawalparasi), July 20: Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, has shared that preparation has been made to provide test and treatment of Pediatric Diabetes also known as ‘Type 1 Diabetes’ free of cost.

At a programme organised at Gaindakot of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta East) today, Health Minister Paudel opined that the ministry has been carrying out activities to provide such service in all seven provinces for free.

Type 1 Diabetes is also increasing in the country and it was necessary to address the children by introducing a children-friendly special programme about diseases including hereditary disease, he said.
The health Minister mentioned, “Many health related problems are seen on children in recent period due to the habit of using digital equipment including mobile, TV and laptop. So all should adopt precaution about possible health relate problems on children. The government should facilitate in treatment.”
Minister Paudel stressed that the state should make policy in order to provide treatment to children and senior citizens free of cost, arguing that the state would not be in favour of the people if it could not help in treatment.

Similarly, Country Director of Noora Health Foundation in Nepal, Dr Sushil Koirala, shared that diabetes is of two types and children suffering from diabetes is named ‘Type 1 Diabetes’. Dr Koirala said in Type 1 Diabetes, the body does not produce insulin and insulin should be administered intravenously via syringe for life-long.

Though there is no actual data of Type 1 Diabetes children, 600 patients of Type 1 Diabetes have been enlisted in Nepal, he added. Five different hospitals have been providing treatment of Type 1 Diabetes in Nepal, shared Dr Koirala, pointing out the need of adopting special caution and awareness related to this disease.

At a Diabetes Screening programme organised on the occasion of 47th establishment day of Vijaya Development Resource Centre (VDRC-Nepal), Gaindakot, where Gaindakot Basic Hospital and Quest Pharmaceutical Pvt Ltd had provided technical support.

On the occasion, Chairperson of the Centre, Krishna Prasad Sapkota, shared that the programme was organised to create health awareness about diabetes, adding everybody need to improve their diet and lifestyle to stay healthy as health is the greatest wealth.
