Kathmandu : To a much relief to the drought-hit Madhes province, the rainfall occurred well in the last 24 hours. The farmers welcomed the rains, cultivated land, and transplanted paddy seedlings on Sunday.

Although the eastern belt of country witnessed adequate rains, the Tarai region had light to moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours, said the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, adding that the eastern Tarai did paddy plantation with the adequate rains.

Meteorologist at Weather Forecasting Division, Binu Maharjan, informed that the Tarai region had the rainfall because the low pressure belt of monsoon was on the northern side of its average range- towards Nepal. However, there is cloudy weather across the country and rainfall was partial. The Anarmani Birta Station of Jhapa district recorded the rainfall at 151.6 ML in the last 24 hours.

Some places in most of the provinces saw heavy rainfall during the day on Sunday. Currently, the rainfall is occurring in Koshi and Madhes provinces.
The rainfall watch centres across the country recorded over 50ML rains.
