Ilam, Koshi Province – The Ambassador of India to Nepal, together with Nepal’s Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, jointly inaugurated a 48.8-meter span modular bridge over the Puwa Khola in Ilam district.
The bridge is part of India’s grant assistance to Nepal following the devastating floods of September 2024. Under this initiative, the Government of India has provided 10 prefabricated steel bridges to support the restoration of critical road infrastructure and strengthen regional connectivity.
The Puwa Khola bridge is one of these 10 bridges, aimed at ensuring swift recovery and long-term resilience of Nepal’s transport networks. Three other bridges have already been successfully installed in different parts of the country, contributing significantly to improved mobility and economic activities.
This cooperation underscores the close ties between the two nations and reflects India’s Neighborhood First policy, reaffirming the spirit of Nepal–Bharat Maitri and the shared commitment to enhancing connectivity for mutual prosperity.
