Kathmandu : The government has approved the master plan for TU Cricket Stadium and decided to designate it as a national pride project.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers convened on Thursday morning approved the master plan proposed by the Ministry of Urban Development.
According to the master plan, the estimated cost of the stadium is around Rs 10 billion.

Minister for Urban Development Kulman Ghising shared that the stadium is country’s first international cricket infrastructure and expressed his confidence that it would significantly contribute to promoting international sports and tourism.

He further explained that the Cabinet approved moving forward with land agreement, finalizing environmental impact assessment and initiating the tender process for the second phase of the stadium’s expansion as outlined in the master plan.

The Minister had recently conducted an on-site inspection on the cricket stadium and had taken stock of the first phase of the construction works.
During the visit, he had emphasized that the ongoing work should be prioritized nationally and pledged that the second phase of construction would be accelerated without any budgetary constraints.

The first phase of construction of the stadium is being undertaken in full swing with a target to complete it before the Nepal Premier League begins on coming November 17.
