KMC, Nepal Telecom collaborating for making metropolis safer, systematic

Kathmandu, Nov 15: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has pursued collaboration with Nepal Telecom to use the network required for CCTV cameras to be installed in its geographical area.

Dhruba Kumar Kafle, head of the KMC Administration Department, said the KMC has forwarded collaboration with Nepal Telecom to provide local internet through optical fibre network and FTTH (Fiber to the Home) for CCTV network in the KMC’s ward offices.

An agreement has also been reached between KMC and Nepal Telecom to deliver the CCTV footage to every monitoring room. Along with this, the Telecom will provide services for regular maintenance, restoration of accidental damage, technical support, service expansion capacity, structures for continuity of service in emergencies, network monitoring, and identification and resolution when the service is disrupted.

As per the agreement, KMC will manage items and equipment including CCTV cameras and routers. It is stated that Telecom will provide high-speed bandwidth needed in the future. It will also regularly update the technology to keep up with changes.

Kafle said that KMC has advanced this work to achieve results through intergovernmental coordination and cooperation, making the city safe and smart, using technology.
