Kathmandu : The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has appealed in the Supreme Court against 17 individuals in a move against the decision of the Special Court on the financial irregularities relating to the Melamchi Drinking Water Supply Project.

The anti-graft body issuing a press statement on Sunday said that it had filed an appeal at the apex court against 17 people including Dr Sanjaya Sharma, then Secretary at Ministry of Water Supply who were acquitted of corruption charge.

Appeal has been made against then Chairperson of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project and secretaries at the Ministry, Bhim Prasad Upadhyay and Gajendra Kumar Thakur.

In the appeal registered at the Supreme Court on Sunday, Bhoj Bikram Thapa, who signed the agreement between the government and the Gen-Z movement protestors, has been named defendant.

The CIAA had filed a corruption case against 17 people and entities on the charge of irregularities in the Melamchi Drinking Water Supply Project in February 2024 at the Special Court.
