Dumre (Tanahu) : Preparations are underway to conclude the Bandipur Visit Year with a grand three-day cultural celebration at Bandipur of Tanahu district starting from coming December 30. The celebration features Tamu Lhosar celebration and Kauraha folk dance (also known as Chutka) performance in the historic hilltop town also known as the ‘Queen of the Hills’. The folk dance is believed to have originated in Tanahu.

Sampada Nepal’s Chairperson Harisingh Gurung shared that a huge portion of local population still follows the traditional dance performance. To further promote and preserve the folk dance, the local municipality is gearing up to organize the Kauraha dance performance as well as food festival and other cultural events during the closing ceremony of the Bandipur Visit Year 2025, said Gurung.

The Bandipur Visit Year 2025 closing ceremony will begin with Kauraha dance performance on December 30 by a troupe of artistes, he informed, adding that second day (on the eve of New Year 2026) will see musical bands performing. Likewise, the Bandipur Visit Year 2025 will be concluded with food festival on the third day. According to him, national-level artistes are also scheduled to perform on that day.

Bandipur Visit Year 2025’s Coordinators Baisha Gurung mentioned that arrangements are made for transportation via cable car besides roadways to the historic town famed for tribal villages, lush green forest and many shrines and natural heritages such as verdant forests and ancient caves. He revealed that the Bandipur rural municipality has decided to observe coming year 2026 as the Adventure Tourism Year in Bandipur.

Bandipur town currently has 75 hotels and four home-stay facilities while there are 120 hotels and 12 home-stay facilities within the Bandipur rural municipality.
These hotels and home-stay facilities can accommodate as many as 1,700 guests on a daily basis.

Bandipur that had been attracting approximately 100,000 tourists annually, launched the Bandipur Visit Year 2025 with the beginning of the year 2025, aiming to draw 1,700 tourists daily.
