Mahendranagar, Feb 2: Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak reached his ancestral home at Bedkot Municipality–8 in Kanchanpur district this morning. The house had been burnt down during the Gen Z movement on September 9, 2025.

Lekhak, who was serving as Home Minister at the time of the movement and resigned in the aftermath of the first day protest, visited the site where there was a carcass of his house. It is the first time he reached home since the movement.

Although he is not in the race for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, he arrived in the area to help create a favorable atmosphere for his party’s candidate, according to sources.

During the visit, Lekhak interacted with local residents, who briefed him on ongoing efforts of road infrastructure development in the village and other local issues.

Lekhak had won the House of Representatives election from Kanchanpur electoral constituency–3 in the 2022 parliamentary elections. This time, former party district president Hari Prasad Bohara will be contesting from Kanchanpur on behalf of the Nepali Congress, the party to which Lekhak belongs.
