Myagdi, March 12: The construction of the Upper Thulokhola Hydropower Project with a capacity of 22.5 megawatts has been completed in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-7 of Myagdi.

The physical structure of the project, the installation of equipment in the powerhouse, and the construction of the transmission line has been completed. The project is promoted by Thulokhola Hydropower Limited.
Project chief Shiva Sagar Yadav said that the construction of the physical structures of the project has been completed and test production has begun.

The construction of the project began in 2021. The project site is located in a remote area. In Sugurthala, a dam, de-sander (water settling pond), 2,900 metres of main pipeline and 300 metres of surge shaft pipeline have been installed, and a powerhouse has been constructed at Phedi. A switchyard has been built within the powerhouse compound.

This is a ‘Run of the River’ type project. Fourteen towers have been constructed from Phedi to Bandi, and a five-kilometre long 132 kV capacity transmission line has been built.

The electricity generated from this project is connected to the central power grid through the 220 kV Dana–Khurkot transmission line from Bandi to Thulokhola and from Chimkhola via Tilkenichaur in collaboration with Chimkhola–Mangle–Rahughat hydropower projects.

Dev Urja Construction is the civil and hydro mechanical contractor and BFL Bangalore is the electromechanical contractor for this project.

The project’s estimated cost is Rs 3 billion. The Citizens and Machhapuchchhre Bank have invested 70 percent in loans. The promoter will retain a 10 percent investment, and 20 percent of the investment of the project will be raised through the public by issuing shares.
