Kathmandu, April 30: The Embassy of Nepal in Seoul organized a Nepali Tea Tasting Programme in the South Korean Capital City of Seoul on Wednesday. The event witnessed participation of over 30 South Korean tea importers and six Nepali tea entrepreneurs, the Embassy of Nepal in Seoul stated.
On the occasion, Nepali Ambassador to South Korea Dr. Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe termed the programme as a platform to introduce the richness and diversity of Nepali tea to the Korean market. She noted that the event also encouraged meaningful dialogue between tea entrepreneurs from both countries.
She stated that tea represents culture, tradition, and connection, adding that the Nepali tea, grown in the pristine Himalayan foothills, offers a unique quality and strong potential in Korea.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation to the Korea Tea Sommelier Institute and Nepal’s National Tea and Coffee Development Board for their assistance extended to the Embassy in organizing the event.
Also on the occasion, CEO of the Korea Tea Sommelier Institute Shawn S. Jung praised the pure aroma and delicate taste of Nepali tea, describing it as a “Gift from the Himalayas.”
He expressed pride in introducing Nepali tea to Korean consumers and reaffirmed his institute’s commitment to promoting high-quality Nepali teas in South Korea.
The programme provided the participants with the opportunity to taste varieties of Nepali teas, exchange ideas, and explore business partnerships, according to the Nepali Embassy.
