Kathmandu: Lawmakers have drawn the attention of the government to resolve problems facing victims of predatory lending at the earliest.

Attending today’s meeting of the National Assembly during the zero hours, Jag Prasad Sharma urged the resolution of the usury problem through talks. He appreciated the government’s initiatives to make related laws.

The government has criminalised predatory lending and put forward the procedure to amend the Criminal Code, 2074. Taraman Swar demanded that the government provides security and relief to those victims of an earthquake in Sudurpaschim.

Many houses have been damaged in the quake that occurred on November 8. He called for identifying the areas prone to an earthquake and seeking alternative accommodation for the victims. Similarly, Tulasa Kumari Dahal demanded the conservation of the Nepal National Library at Old Thimi in Bhaktapur stating that books in the library have started decaying for want of care.
