Manma (Kalikot), July 11: The Tilagufa Municipality in Kalikot has made it mandatory for anyone willing to export apples produced within the municipality to seek its endorsement.
The recommendation has been made mandatory as certification to maintain the quality of apples produced in the municipality and to protect the credibility of Tilagufa apples in the market, said Chief Administrative Officer Bishnu Prasad Kafle.
Apple farmers or entrepreneurs must submit an application to the municipality’s Agricultural Service Center at least three days before transporting and exporting apples, clearly stating the quantity of apples and the export destination. After the application is registered, the municipality’s agro technician will monitor and inspect the quality and quantity of the apples on site.
“Based on the report prepared by the technical team, an official export recommendation letter will be issued by the office only after the revenue as per the rules is paid,” Kafle said.
According to Agricultural Development Officer Govinda Bhatta, on an average more than 10,000 quintals of apples are exported from the municipality annually.
