Kathmandu, July 13: The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in various places in the country today.

According to the Division, the country is under the influence of monsoon winds, and the low- pressure line (Monsoon Trough) is currently located slightly north of its average position near the Nepal’s Terai region.

There is mostly cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rainfall is underway in some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces, and at one or two places in Madhes and Sudurpaschim provinces.

This afternoon, there will be mostly cloudy in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, while generally cloudy is expected in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

There are chances of moderate to heavy rainfall/snowfall with thunder/lightning in many places of the mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and in a few places of the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Similarly, moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder/lightning is likely at many places in the hilly and terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, in the hilly and Terai areas of Madhes, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in some places of the hilly and Terai areas of Karnali province.
Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two places in the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces including Madhes province.

Tonight, there will be mostly cloudy in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces tonight and generally cloudy in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Moderate to heavy rain/snowfall with thunder/lightning has been forecast for many places in the mountainous areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, some places in the mountainous areas of Gandaki provinces and a few places in the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain/snowfall with thunder/lightning at many places in the hilly and terai areas of Madhesh province and Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, some places in the hilly and terai areas of Lumbini province and a few places in the hilly and terai areas of Karnali province and Sudurpaschim provinces.

A few places in the hilly and terai areas of Koshi and Bagmati, and Madhesh provinces are likely to see heavy to very heavy rain,while heavy rain is expected at one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. Very heavy rain is likely at one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

Amidst these possibilities, the Department has urged the public to take necessary precautions against potential disasters such as seasonal floods, floods, landslides, and soil erosion. It also warned that the adverse weather could affect daily life, agriculture, public health, tourism, mountaineering, as well as road and air transportation services.
