Janakpurdham, Aug. 7: The Fisheries Human Resource Development and Technology Validation Centre, Janakpurdham has grown 43.8 million fish hatchlings in the fiscal year 2082/83 BS.
Chief of Centre Dr Gyan Bahadur Jirel shared that the Centre produced 43.8 million of fish hatchlings, 3.2 million of fry, 1.38 million of fingerlings and 2,053 kilogram of fish in the fiscal year 2082/83 BS. The Centre earned Rs 3.45 million from the sale of fry during the period.
The fry reared in the Centre are being sold out in the districts across the Madhes Province and some districts of Bagmati and Koshi provinces too. The centre grows fish species of common carp, silver carp, big head carp, grass carp and some others.
The Centre also conducts training targeting the fish farmers and the hatchery businesspeople on technical knowhow of commercial value.
