Kathmandu, Aug 15: Roads in several places of the country have been disrupted due to incessant rainfall. Issuing the updates on flooding and landslides as of 6.30 this morning, the Nepal Police Headquarters stated that traffic on roads in various districts has been affected.
Considering possible flood risk on the Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunjebesi section along the BP Highway connecting Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli, vehicular movement has been banned on the section from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am daily. Vehicles can operate on this road section from 4:00 am to 6:00 pm.
On Makwanpur’s Kanti Highway, traffic for all types of vehicles has also been banned from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am due to rain.
In Ilam Municipality–9 Rajduwali, landslide debris has completely blocked the Mechi Highway. The police stated an alternate route available there.
On the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok, the road section has been completely blocked in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality–4, Charakilo, Liping, due to road collapse caused by a landslide.
In Rasuwa’s Uttargaya Rural Municipality–5, in Khalte, the road has been washed away, completely blocking the Trishuli–Mailung–Syafrubensi gravel road section.
Similarly, in Rukum West’s Aathbiskot Municipality–6, near Rije Guard Khola, the Bheri Corridor’s Jajarkot–Dolpa road has been completely blocked by a landslide.
In Rukum East’s Bhume Rural Municipality–4, landslides in Kadabagar and Dhaulapahira of the same municipality have fully blocked the Mid-Hill Highway.
In Rolpa’s Thawang Rural Municipality–2, due to landslides in Laplevir and Dang, the Gorahi–Thawang Shaheed route has also been completely blocked in two places.
It has been reported that coordination with the concerned authorities and local governments is underway to clear the blocked roads
