Kathmandu, Sept 24: Heavy rainfall is likely at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, and at one or two places in Madhesh and Lumbini Provinces today.
Very heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces. In addition, windstorms are also likely at a few places in Madhesh Province and the Tarai region of Koshi Province, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.
Mostly cloudy conditions will prevail over Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces, while generally cloudy conditions will prevail over Karnali and Sudurpashchim Provinces.
Likewise, moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at many places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces, and at a few places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim Provinces. The Meteorological Analysis by the Department states that currently the entire country is under the influence of monsoon winds, along with a partial influence of westerly winds. In addition, the low-pressure area (Depression) over the Bay of Bengal is currently located over the west-central and adjoining northwestern Bay of Bengal as a Deep Depression. The system is expected to strengthen further in the coming days and move in a west-northwestward direction.
