NUWAKOT, Nepal — Germany has announced an increase in its support for flood rehabilitation in Nepal to €11 million, reaffirming its commitment to helping communities recover from the devastating floods of August 26.
During a visit to Nuwakot, German Parliamentary State Secretary Dr. Bärbel Kofler and German Ambassador to Nepal Udo Volz expressed solidarity with flood-affected communities and observed ongoing humanitarian assistance efforts.

Dr. Kofler interacted with flood survivors to understand the challenges faced by affected families, including the desperate situation on the ground, difficulties in accessing healthcare services, and the psychological trauma caused by the disaster.
Germany also announced plans for new initiatives in collaboration with AWO International and UNICEF Nepal to support affected communities and strengthen rehabilitation efforts.

In Bidur, Dr. Kofler met with the mayor of Bidur Municipality, local authorities, hospital representatives, and public health officials. Discussions focused on the current situation in the affected areas, challenges in delivering relief assistance, healthcare needs, and the ongoing process of reconstruction.

Germany’s increased financial commitment is expected to contribute to rehabilitation efforts and support communities as they work to recover from the devastating impact of the floods.
The visit underscores the continued cooperation between Nepal and Germany in humanitarian assistance, disaster recovery, and community rehabilitation.
