Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed the confidence that the under-construction Kathmandu-Tarai-Madhes expressway would be completed on time. After an onsite visit of the expressway at Bhimphedi and Bakaiya of Makawanpur district on Tuesday afternoon, the Prime Minister took stock of the ongoing progress of the project and also visited the construction of the tunnel being carried out. He expressed satisfaction to the progress adding that the government has made every possible support for facilitating the work on the expressway. It may be noted that the government has given the responsibility for the construction of this project to the Nepali Army. “I received a briefing about it yesterday.

We have come here today for inspection. I realized that the performance is good. Huge tunnels are being constructed. Though the construction job was delayed for two years due to COVID-19, it will expedite now,” the PM shared his observation. Likewise, the PM said that a meeting of the council of ministers would take some decisions in regard to this project adding that the government would facilitate on land issue and other nitty-gritty of the project. Saying that the project was given to the Nepal Army as per the national aspirations, people’s choice and psychology, the PM vowed to inaugurate the project after its completion during his premiership while recalling that he had laid foundation stone of the project.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Secretaries of the government and Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma were also in the team. The high-ranking officials of the government also visited different sections of the project. The 72.5 kilometres long fast track is the shortest route connecting Kathmandu with Tarai and it is being constructed under the management of the NA.
