Kathmandu: A delegation of South Korean industrialists, led by Ambassador Park Tae Young, met Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Prakash Jwala, in Kathmandu.

They sought investment opportunities in Nepal’s infrastructure sector, adding to their existing ventures in hydropower.

Ambassador Park expressed South Korea’s readiness to engage in road and railway projects and emphasized the importance of detailed project discussions.

Notably, a 2018 attempt at Korean investment in Nepal’s infrastructure was impeded by a change in government. As Nepal and South Korea approach the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, the Korean delegation aims to leverage this occasion for renewed investment.

Minister Jwala pledged proactive efforts in crafting an investment proposal. He commended South Korea’s past contribution in training Nepali engineers and underscored the potential for stronger bilateral relations through substantial investment agreements.

The discussions underscore the evolving partnership between Nepal and South Korea, driven by shared interests in advancing infrastructure development.
