Following the aftermath of the severe earthquake in the Karnali Province on the night of November 3, Ncell committed immediate support for the rescue, treatment, and relief operations of the earthquake victims the next day.

As an essential telecommunications service provider, Ncell provided free services worth Rs. 40 Lakhs to customers from the affected districts—Jajarkot, Rukum (West) and Rukum (East).

On Thursday, translating its commitment to action, Ncell handed over a cheque of NPR 50 Lakhs to the Karnali Province Government in Surkhet to assist in earthquake relief and rehabilitation in the affected districts of Karnali Province—Jajarkot and West Rukum.

Vishal Upadhyay, Chief Regulatory and Legal Officer of Ncell handed over the cheque of Rs. 50 Lakhs to Krishna Bahadur BC, Minister of Industry, Forest and Tourism, Karnali Province Government, amid a small function at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, Surkhet.

“Thank you for remembering Karnali during this time of disaster. We are aware that Ncell has been supporting in these kinds of times of crisis and such support holds a huge meaning at the time when the government is in need of huge resources for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation,” said Krishana Bahadur BC, Minister of Industry, Forest and Tourism of the Karnali Province, addressing the function.

Ncell remains in regular coordination with officials of the Karnali Province on how the company can best support its efforts and is committed to providing necessary assistance to those affected by these earthquakes.

“At Ncell, we always believe that working together in coordination with the provincial government in this kind of trying time will help us reach the local community and support them quickly,” said Vishal Upadhyay, Chief Regulatory & Legal Officer.

Thanking Ncell for the support, Chudamani Paudel, Acting Chief Secretary of the Karnali Province Government said, “I on behalf of Karnali Province Government and Chief Minister thank the entire Ncell Family for visiting us here in Surkhet to extend support to the people of Karnali affected from the earthquake.”

This brings Ncell’s assistance to support the earthquake response in Karnali Province to around NPR 1 Crore to date. Our thoughts are also with all those involved in the rescue and relief efforts. Ncell sincerely hopes for the earliest possible return to normalcy for those affected by the disaster and for the recovery and restoration of the affected regions.
