Kathmandu, Dec 18: Youth in Policy and Governance (YPG), 2023/24 is taking place in Madhes Province. The application window is now open for the year-long fellowship programme, it is announced. YPG is a year-long fellowship programme organised by the Pokhara Research Centre in partnership with the U.S. Embassy, Nepal.
Youth between the 20-30 age group can participate in the programme where they can learn about law-making, public policy, and governance through training, mentorship, and one-to-one involvement and collaboration with members of the provincial assembly as knowledge assistants, it has been said.
The participants will be trained on things like how the provincial parliament session functions, its importance, how provincial parliamentarians run state affairs daily, roles of the youth to strengthen the federalism and their professional development, said the organiser.
Under the fellowship, the participants will be trained in different modules throughout three months, before making them prepared to work with parliamentarians of the province to help them with the affairs of the province, it said. It focuses primarily on policy and governance.
Criteria:
1. The participants should be between the 20-30 age group
2. They should have at least the undergraduate degree in any discipline
3. They should be a permanent resident of the target area or the one who lives at least one year in the target area.
