Kathmandu: With winter taking effect gradually, there is a direct impact of cold on human health. During winter, many people get common cold caused by any one of more than 200 different virus. the rhinoviruses cause most colds.
It is often spread through airborne droplets that are coughed or sneezed into the air by the sick person.
Contrary to the popular belief, cold weather or being chilled does not cause a cold. But, more colds take place during the cold season. People are most likely to catch colds during fall and winter.
People of any age suffer colds. However, children are more prone to it due to their immature immune systems. the average child will have between six to 10 colds a year. The average adult will have two to four colds a year.
Prevention
1. Wash hands often and avoid close contact with people, who have common colds.
2. When being around people with colds, do not touch nose or eyes. It is because your hands may be infected with the virus.
3. If you have a cold, cough and sneeze in facial tissue and dispose of it, and wash your hands promptly.
4. Cleaning surfaces with disinfectants that kill viruses.
5. Do not use clothes used by others.
6. Have a plenty of nutritious food and soup
7. Have hot water
8. Avoid cold
