Kathmandu, Dec 21: The International Rice Conference 2023 with the theme of ‘From fields to future’ has taken place in Kathmandu. Co-hosted by the Government of Nepal and USAID, the conference brought together experts, farmers and policymakers, who shared knowledge for a sustainable future of Nepali rice.
Attending the conference which aims to make Nepal a rice powerhouse with tips on climate-smart farming and best practices from top rice producers in the world, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Dr Beduram Bhusal said Nepal with innovation, sustainability and teamwork was on the path to a brighter future for farmers and a food-secure nation.
Everyone has a role in achieving rice self-sufficiency, he added.
USAID is a partner in this growth with the investment of over $181 million since 2011, and is currently collaborating on $100 million worth of projects for farmers to boost their production and sales, it has been said.
