Kathmandu, Dec 27: U.S. Ambassador to Nepal Dean R. Thompson and other U.S. Embassy representatives have recently sat down with members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal (AmCham Nepal) in Kathmandu.
The meeting that took place at the U.S. Embassy in Nepal discussed the experience of US companies in Nepal and their ideas on how Nepal can attract greater foreign direct investments, it has been said.
The meeting also focused on a broad prospect of foreign investments in Nepal, said the AmCham Nepal representatives.
Established two years ago, AmCham Nepal has reportedly made a historic achievement by becoming an official chapter of the US Chamber of Commerce.
It with 44 members has created over 15,000 direct employment opportunities and more than 100,000 indirect job opportunities in Nepal. It has chapters in 130 countries globally representing over 3 million business organisations.
At present, the United States has invested into Nepal’s information technology, energy and tourism sectors.
The United States is committed to promoting greater economic growth for Nepal through such opportunities, said the representatives.
