Kathmandu, Jan 7: The journey to Kangchenjunga is not just about standing atop the summit; it is about challenging oneself and experiencing the profound serenity of the Himalayas.

Seven Summit Treks, a leading Kathmandu-based trekking and expedition company, is organising the Kangchenjunga expedition from April 10, 2024.

This awe-inspiring adventure promises an unparalleled experience, guiding daring climbers through the majestic Himalayas to conquer the world’s third-highest peak, said SST.

SST has assured that aspiring climbers will be guided by experienced Sherpa team, apart from managing required logistics and supplies ensuring utmost comports and safety. The guides managed by SST have excellent experience and knowledge of the mountains with a proven safety record, said SST chairperson Mingma Sherpa.

SST has announced bookings have opened for the adventure. For further queries, interested climbers can contact at info@sevensummittreks.com

Mount Kangchenjunga

Standing tall at 8,586 metres (28,169 feet) above sea level, Kanchenjunga is the third largest peak in the world situated on the border between Nepal and India.

Until 1852, Kangchenjunga was widely believed to be the highest mountain in the world. However, calculations and measurements conducted by the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India in 1849 showed that Mount Everest, then known as Peak XV, actually surpassed it in height. Following thorough verification of all calculations, it was officially announced in 1856 that Kangchenjunga was the third-highest mountain, after Everest and K2 in the Karakoram Range.

Translating to “The Five Treasures of Snows” in Tibetan alluding to the five peaks in the Himalaya, Kangchenjunga was first climbed in 1955 by Joe Brown and George Band of the 1955 British Kangchenjunga expedition.

The climb involves a mix of challenges and rewards as the peak is considered most challenging and technical climbing routes. The mountain presents difficulties due to its steep terrain, avalanches, and unpredictable weather conditions.
