Kathmandu, Jan 10: The Kathmandu District Court has handed down eight years of imprisonment to cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who is convicted of raping a girl.
A single bench of judge Shishir Dhakal also fined him Rs 300,000 and ordered a compensation of Rs 200,000 to the rape survivor, said the court.
Earlier on December 29, 2023, the court convicted him of raping a girl. On September 6, 2022, a girl, who is referred to as ‘Gaushala 26’ filed a rape case at the Police Circle, Gaushala, Kathmandu, against Lamichhane.
