Kathmandu, Feb 8: Ambassador of the United States to Nepal, Dean R. Thompson is visiting Jajarkot this week to take stock of the current situation of the earthquake affected areas, said the U.S. Embassy.
During the visit, the Ambassador is scheduled to meet with Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Raj Kumar Sharma, mayor of quake-hit Bheri Municipality in Jajarkot, Chandra Prakash Gharti Magar, affected families, and the local communities affected by the recent earthquake.
Thompson will also visit the earthquake affected communities, damaged schools, to assess the current situation post-quake, and discuss how the United States can best support Nepal’s recovery efforts, according to the Embassy.
He will also visit local communities in the Karnali region to learn about their challenges and needs, and the impact of ongoing U.S.-funded relief projects there. “Together, the U.S. and Nepal can build a future where communities not only recover from disasters but emerge even stronger, more resilient, and prepared.”
