Gandaki, Feb 11: The ‘Rastriya Muktak Award-2080’ has been conferred on litterateur Usha Sherchan.
A literary organization, Muktak Manch, established in Pokhara conferred the award, carrying a purse of Rs 33,333 on Sherchan amidst programme in Pokhara on Saturday.
Noted litterateur Sarubhakta, artist Durga Baral ‘Batsayan’ and others jointly handed over the award.
It is the sixth in series. Litterateur Alpabiram here had established the award.
Chairman of the Manch, Ramaji Prasad Acharya, said Sherchan was honoured for her contribution to muktak genre of literature. She has also written poems, songs and novels.
The award had already been conferred on noted literary figure Sarubhakta, Chetan Karki, Chetnath Ghimire, and Ratna Shumser Thapa. The Manch is devoted to promotion of muktak.
