Kathmandu, Feb 14: Representatives of Department of State’s Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy (GHSD) have joined USAID Nepal and EpiC Project Nepal in Rupandehi district to witness the impact of HIV programmes.
On the occasion, the delegations lauded outreach workers and healthcare providers, while community members expressed their gratitude for the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and partner Mono Supporting Maple Group (MSMG).
This visit reaffirms the US commitment to strengthening Nepal’s healthcare, ensuring access to treatment, and building inclusive communities in the fight to end HIV, according to the USAID Nepal.
The PEPFAR is the largest commitment by any nation to address a single disease in history, enabled by strong bipartisan support across ten U.S. congresses and four presidential administrations, and through the American people’s generosity.
Since its inception in 2003, PEPFAR has invested over $100 billion in the global HIV/AIDS response, saving 25 million lives, preventing millions of HIV infections, and supporting several countries to achieve HIV epidemic control.
