Kathmandu, April 25: World Immunisation Week 2024 is being celebrated across the globe. This year’s theme is “Humanly Possible: Immunization for All,” highlighting the incredible impact of vaccines in saving lives and eradicating diseases.
Despite progress, only 52 percent of Nepal’s children aged 12-23 months are fully vaccinated, according to available data. Vaccines, however, are powerful tools that save millions of lives each year. They are not only one of the cheapest but also the most effective public health interventions available.
According to a statement issued by USAID, it, in partnership with WHO, stands with the Government of Nepal to implement Nepal’s National Immunisation Plan 2030. “Through initiatives like the USAID Polio & Immunisations Response Support, we integrate polio surveillance with existing measles/rubella, Japanese encephalitis, and neonatal jaundice vaccine disease surveillance programs.”
“Let’s prioritise immunization efforts, ensuring every child has access to life-saving vaccines. Together, we build healthier communities.”
