Tashi Lakpa Sherpa is the world’s youngest climber to hold the distinction of summiting Mount Everest (8,848.86 metres), the world’s highest peak, without supplemental oxygen, a remarkable feat achieved at the age of 19.

Growing up in remote village named Nurbuchour (Makalu) of Sankhuwasabha district, Sherpa, a Nepali mountaineer, has achieved the remarkable feat in climbing. Notably, he climbed Mt Everest eighth times, Cho Oyu (8,201 metres) twice, Manaslu (8163 metres) once and many other 7,000’er and 6,000’er peaks.

An accomplished adventurer, he made history as the second Nepali Sherpa to summit all the seven summits. Furthermore, he holds the distinction as the first Nepali person to ski to the South Pole. His ambitious plans include skiing to the North Pole in the future.

Apart from his mountaineering field, Sherpa, better known by the family name Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, is a popular activist too.

Born on 18 November 1985 in alluring populated municipality of Makalu located in the eastern Nepal, he entered the world of advocacy in his early life after completing his formal education.

Hailing from remote village named Nurbuchour (Makalu) of Sankhuwasabha District, he spent his earlier days as a herdsman grazing the sheep, goats and yaks in the yards and the forests. When he was 16, he came to the capital city, Kathmandu, and undertook basic wall and rock climbing training.

In 2004, he made a significant achievement of climbing Mt. Everest as his debut ascent and his first climb of 8,000’er peak. Subsequently, he embarked on the journey of climbing along with his two brothers Chhang Dawa Sherpa and Mingma Sherpa.
