KATHMANDU: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on being elected as Prime Minister of Nepal.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Modi stated that he looks forward to working with ‘Prachanda’ to further strengthen the “friendship” between India and Nepal. Indian PM Narendra Modi noted that the “unique relationship” between the two nations is based on “deep cultural connect” and ties between people. He tweeted, “Warmest congratulations @cmprachanda on being elected as the Prime Minister of Nepal. The unique relationship between India & Nepal is based on deep cultural connect & warm people-to-people ties. I look forward to working together with you to further strengthen this friendship.”
Likewise, ‘Prachanda’ will form a small-size Cabinet today itself after taking the oath of office and secrecy.
A meeting of the party’s office-bearers held at the party central office Perisdanda today also decided to include the party’s senior leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha in the Cabinet. However, it is not finalized which ministry’s responsibility he would be assigned, party spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara said.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-appointed Prime Minister Dahal at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas, at 4.0pm today.
