Kathmandu, May 3: The Ministry of Finance of Nepal released the Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) assessment. Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun launched the PEFA assessment amid a function here.
PEFA is a methodology which assesses the country’s public financial management (PFM) performance.
It identifies 94 characteristics (dimensions) across 31 key components of public financial management (indicators) in 7 broad areas of activity (pillars).
For the first time, the PEFA reports on gender and climate responsive PFM.
At the launch, Australia presented on how gender inequalities can be addressed through gender responsive budgeting, which the country pioneered in the 1980s.
“Australia is pleased to have supported the PEFA under the World Bank Nepal implemented multi-donor trust fund,” according to the Australian Embassy in Kathmandu.
