Kathmandu, Aug 6: CPN (Maoist Center) Chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the MCC Nepal compact was passed with explanatory notes as a result of the emphasis by his party.
Unveiling a book ‘MCC in Nepal’ written by Nirmal Lama Memorial Foundation Chair Leelamani Pokharel here today, he said that the MCC Nepal compact is in Nepal’s favor as it was passed with explanatory notes. “Without the Maoists, it was likely to be passed verbatim, but we did not allow that to happen. Now there is room for discussion on it.”
He also said that the book released today is a valuable reading material for those advocating for as well as against the MCC compact. Maoist Center leader and author of the book Pokharel shared that his party passed the MCC Nepal compact with explanatory notes under compelling circumstances and that the book has been written by covering all its aspects including security challenges.
