The Constitution, which was created by the Nepali people through their representatives through the Constituent Assembly, has entered its 8th year today. Constitution Day is being celebrated today with various programs across the country.
The Constitution of Nepal, which is currently being implemented, is written with the goal of establishing socialism with the economic, social and cultural rights of the people and is unique and different from the past.
The peace agreement between the then seven political parties and the rebel CPN-Maoist, the interim constitution, the Constituent Assembly election and the constitution issued through the representatives of the people have been interdependent.
Constitution Day is being celebrated every year to commemorate the date of the promulgation of the Constitution on Ashoj 3, 2072. This time the 8th Constitution Day is going to be celebrated. On 3 Ashoj 2072, the then President Ramvaran Yadav issued the constitution from the Constituent Assembly.
On the occasion of the day, the Constitution Day Main Ceremony Committee has organized a special ceremony in Tundikhel today. President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, former Prime Ministers, Speaker, Speaker of the National Assembly, heads of constitutional bodies and others have been invited to the ceremony.
In the ceremony, there is a program of showering of flowers, Kawaz by Nepali Army, Armed Police, Nepal Police and Scouts, various religious (social organizations) displaying tableaus reflecting the costumes of different ethnicities.
On the occasion of the day, the government has also given a public holiday across the country.
