Kathmandu, Aug 27: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has dismissed its founding general secretary Dr Mukul Dhakal. A party central committee meeting today stripped him of even the general membership on the recommendation of the party’s disciplinary commission.

Earlier, the party relieved Dhakal of all his duties, including general secretary, spokesperson and central committee member, accusing him of violating party discipline and rules.

Dr Dhakal was given a 35 days’ timeframe to give clarification. Earlier, a party central committee meeting asked him for an explanation as to why they should not remove him from the party’s general membership. He was asked for a 24-hour explanation on 21 August, 2024.

Meanwhile, Dr Dhakal took to X and said he was only expelled from the Rabi Lamichhane Club.

“I have been expelled from the Rabi Lamichhane club. The club has no right to dismiss me from RSP. Rabi Lamichhane should resign as an ordinary member of the party on the basis of ethics after the judicial body annulled the club’s earlier action. I could not expect morals from Rabi Lamichhane, a morally corrupt character, but how far he has been morally corrupt, we will see, time will confirm.”

“Regarding the cooperative issue, Rabi Lamichhane has been making speeches to confuse the common people, he has been confusing the people by saying that evidence has been fabricated against him. In this way, they are daring to disturb the administrative process of justice. The respective body should pay attention to this. And again, a question of ethics to Rabi Lamichhane, a morally corrupt person; don’t try to spread confusion over the subject under investigation, that does not befit a former home minister.”
