Kathmandu, Aug 30: Safari drivers started a protest against Biratnagar Metropolitan City’s ban on city safaris along main roads in the city. They said the metropolis’ move has affected their business.
As a result of the protest, transportation has been disrupted at Bargachhi along the Koshi highway.
Protesting safari drivers said they resorted to the movement as the metropolis deprived them of their jobs and livelihood following the ban. The metropolis’ move was against the constitution, they claimed.
They have called for the metropolis to allow safaris in the city area. “Our demand should be addressed by the local government and safaris should be allowed,” said a protestor.
Earlier, safari drivers have demonstrated in front of the Biratnagar Metropolis office.
