Kathmandu, Sept 19: Swiss mountaineer, Josette Valloton, has made history by becoming the first female IFMGA certified guide to summit all 14 peaks above 8,000 metres in the world.

She conquered Mount Manaslu on September 19, 2024, her final ascent to complete the 14th 8,000er project, with Seven Summit Treks, a prominent Nepal-based expedition operator, said SST’s General Manager Thaneswar Guragai. “Her final ascent of the true summit of Mt Manaslu was a remarkable achievement, and we are incredibly proud to have been part of her journey,” he said.

SST expressed its commitment to empowering women in mountaineering and adventure. “We stand with women in mountaineering and encourage more climbers to follow in Josette’s footsteps. Together, we break barriers and push the boundaries of what is possible in the mountains,” said SST.
