Kathmandu : Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year will be balanced. In a discussion with federal lawmakers representing Karnali Province at the Office of the Prime Minister in Singha Durbar earlier today, he assured that Karnali Province would be addressed fairly through the budget.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Shah had said that the government would focus on governance reforms in his first year in office, according to Ramesh Malla, a lawmaker from Salyan Constituency No. 1 who participated in the meeting.

An elected member of parliament from the Nepali Communist Party, Malla told RSS that the discussion with the Prime Minister focused on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/2084. The lawmakers participating in the discussion drew the Prime Minister’s attention to giving first priority to Karnali in the upcoming budget, governance reforms in the province, and construction of physical infrastructure, among other issues.

Issues concerning post-earthquake relief and reconstruction, pre-monsoon preparedness in the province, various road corridors including Karnali, Bheri, Rapti and mid-hill, Madan Bhandari, Lumbini-Rara and other highways and road infrastructure, health insurance, maternal and child nutrition, petroleum exploration in Dailekh, risk management from wildlife, as well as priorities in the communication, electricity, drinking water, irrigation, agriculture, forestry, tourism, and education sectors were raised during the discussion, MP Malla said.

Members of Parliament elected from the province representing the Nepali Communist Party, CPN (UML), Nepali Congress and Rastriya Prajatantra Party participated in the discussion hosted by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
