Kathmandu: Surja’s life in rural Nepal was defined by a daily struggle—sharing a neighbor’s toilet and facing risks like snake bites during nighttime visits, particularly in the monsoon season.
Everything changed when Surja, with the support of USAID Karnali Water Activity, constructed a toilet at her home. The organization provided assistance for building a septic tank, ensuring safe and sustainable sanitation.
“Having a toilet at home means we no longer live in fear,” Surja explains. “It’s more than convenience; it’s about dignity and security.”
