Kathmandu : The First National Bamboo Conference is to be organized at Diktel, Khotang from February 27 to March 1, 2025. The theme of the three –day conference is “Where there is bamboo, there is life, where there is life, there is bamboo”.
Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi municipality is the main organizer of the conference where Forest Research and Training Centre, the Ministry of Tourism, Forests and Environment of Koshi Province and the Green Bamboo Creation Pvt Ltd are organisers. It was shared in a press conference in the federal capital on Sunday.
Different government and non-government offices working on bamboo and environment, educational and research agencies, private sector, entrepreneurs and local-levels would participate in the event.
The main objective of the conference is to explore potentials and challenges related to the bamboo, improve and expand bamboo cultivation and exhibit various types of goods made from bamboo, said Mayor of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi municipality, Tirtha Raj Bhattarai.
Drawing the attention of bodies concerned for encouraging farmers involved in bamboo cultivation, he mentioned that increasing the use of bamboo products in houses and production of different items is the main objective of the conference.
The conference will not only see the presentations by the bamboo experts but also the stalls of bamboo-made items and cultural processions.
Similarly, Director General of Forests Research and Training Centre, Dr Rajendra KC, expressed the belief that the conference would be productive medium to promote bamboo use because the items made of bamboo can be exported in the foreign markets.
